In this recent study taken from data from their platform and also government data, MyJobMag found that the job market is rapidly growing in South Africa.
Top 3 province with the highest unemployment rate are Eastern Cape, North West, Mpumalanga with unemployment rate at 42.4%, 39.0% and 35.1% respectively. Check out the full data here
It is also interesting to note that the largest increase in employment was recorded in Manufacturing (123 000), followed by Trade (82 000), Construction (46 000), Transport (33 000) and Community and social services (27 000)
In general, total unemployment rate in South Africa stands at 33.56% with unemployment defined as the labor force that is without work but available for and seeking employment. With a population of 60.6million people, the trend is worrisome, not only for South Africa but most Africa countries in general.
The research taken from government data discovered that there was growth in the number of employed person by about 1.5million persons representing an increase of 10.4% growth for Quarter 3 of 2022. With this statistic increasing every day it’s no surprise that the projection for employed person will continue to increase even though the number of unemployed increased by only 1.1% in the same time frame.
