Today, local ear, nose, throat experts over at Guildford ENT published a new page on their website covering children’s ENT issues. Some of the problems with children’s ENT are just normal occurrences in this day and age, and at some point in their lifetime, children are likely to face tonsillitis or ‘glue ear’ issues. It’s not just children who can catch it, though, because more and more adults report experiencing signs and problems with it too.
One of the most common symptoms to look out for is a sore throat; however, the presence of this symptom isn’t always indicative of a more serious issue. If a sore throat lasts for a few weeks, it is advised to seek more treatment, especially if there are other symptoms such as high fever or breathing difficulties.
Yet, it’s not always easy to be seen as soon as possible, with recent NHS statistics showing patients waiting for a doctor’s appointment for three months. Here is where San Sunkaraneni can help, as the Guilford ENT owner recently launched children’s ENT treatments to the public.
This new service was established especially to ease the minds of worried parents. And if a parent should discover that their child has developed tonsillitis symptoms, then there is a simple and straightforward procedure that can be done. There are many myths about tonsillectomies that some parents falsely assume are true–namely, that removing the tonsils will have an impact on their child’s immunity; however, medical research shows that this is not the case. There is plenty of lymphoid tissue spread across the entire mouth and neck, along with other parts of the body, which means that immunity would not be impeded.
When asked about his experience, San Sunkaraneni said: “I am a Consultant Rhinologist/ENT surgeon who works at the Guildford Nuffield Hospital and Mount Alvernia Hospital. I provide both an out-patient and in-patient (surgery) service, as well as carrying out local anesthetic ‘office’ procedures. I provide a regional service for Surrey, London, Sussex, and Hampshire, and also receive referrals from all over the UK.”
