Walid Chaya, the founder of Studio For Performing Arts LA, offers aspirants the opportunity to receive career counseling and coaching from high-profile industry experts. The 3-day schedule combines intensive masterclasses and talent showcases in front of casting professionals, film directors, agents and managers.
Each masterclass, taught by a reputed film director or casting professional, explores a different dimension of the craft. Participants are assigned a professional reader who trains them in evaluating scripts prepared in advance and also performing “cold scenes” to prepare them for the audition process.
“LA Acting Bootcamp” only approves a small group of actors so that everyone gets the time and opportunity to showcase their talent, to form a bond with their peers, and observe and learn from them. The experts are also able to focus on every single actor and offer them precise feedback on their strengths and weaknesses.
Walid’s final seminar on “The Business of Acting in the Digital Age” addresses key questions from the participants. These include how to find the right agent/manager, navigate different career paths, successfully promote yourself on social media and more. “LA Acting Bootcamp” ends with a cohesive, well-rounded insight into the life of a working actor and gives participants a springboard into the LA film and television market.
“LA Acting Bootcamp” is offered seasonally. Actors can apply online and if approved attend the 3-day program in West Hollywood, CA. The VIP line up of 12 Casting Professionals, Agents and Film Directors changes seasonally with top guest instructors and mentors.
About Studio Director Walid Chaya:
Walid Chaya is an award-winning Lebanese-American director and actor known for his roles in “Madam Secretary” for CBS, “Blacklist: Redemption” for NBC and “The Looming Tower” for Hulu. He has also appeared in the Oscar-winning A24 short film, “Skin” (2019). Walid is a strong advocate for women’s rights and chronicles the everyday battles of Saudi women in his empowering films.
