ICH Announces New Vocational Nursing AAS Degree Program

Integrity College of Health has announced they are now offering a new Associate of Applied Science, Vocational Nursing program (VN AAS), designed to be completed in less than 2 years. Located in Pasadena, California, programs at ICH are designed to offer career training for in-demand, essential healthcare careers. The new AAS Degree program for Vocational Nurses will add to ICH’s profile of programs that cater to students motivated to enter the healthcare field.

ICH’s Campus Director, Mark Norman, introduced the new program, saying, “We are excited to offer the VN AAS program to ICH LVN graduates, as well as any VN graduate who wants to advance their nursing career. Nurses are critical to the needs of our communities and there is an increasing demand for educated professionals. ICH is doing our part to train nurses to contribute at a more advanced level.”

The VN AAS program is designed for graduates of an approved Vocational Nursing program, such as ICH’s Vocational Nursing diploma program, who want to strengthen their careers in the nursing field. Through the AAS degree program, vocational nursing students develop enhanced critical thinking skills, greater scientific knowledge, and quality verbal/written communication skills, becoming more well rounded professionals and more qualified job candidates.

The AAS degree program builds on the Vocational Nursing diploma by adding General Education and science courses, including an Introduction to Psychology, Introduction to Sociology, Human Anatomy, Microbiology, and Human Physiology. These General Education and science courses are required to enter a Registered Nursing Program. The AAS portion of the program is 48 weeks in length and can be completed entirely online.

The Licensed Vocational Nursing portion of the program is 53 weeks long, for a total VN AAS program length of 100 weeks. In the LVN program, students learn the basic skills and essential functions of vocational nursing. Courses include the Fundamentals of Nursing, Medical – Surgical Nursing, Medical – Surgical Mental Health, Maternal – Child Health Leadership, and Clinical in Various Facilities. The hybrid-online nursing program includes a combination of classroom study and clinical practice in a hospital or other healthcare setting, so students gain both theoretical knowledge as well as hands-on experience.

ICH’s LVN program is approved by the California Board of Vocational Nurse and Psychiatric Technicians. ICH is licensed by the Bureau for Private Postsecondary Education (BPPE), and is institutionally accredited by the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES), an accrediting agency recognized by the United States Department of Education. Accreditation and approval guarantees students, faculty and the public that the programs at ICH meet objective and rigorous third-party standards of educational practices.

Integrity College of Health offers hybrid, hands-on, and online classes to train students for healthcare careers in a short amount of time. Hands-on training from industry professional faculty prepares students for success in their chosen healthcare careers upon graduation.
